Green revealed her husband was part of the leadership team at an IT company and was part of a panel that interviewed several candidates for an open position on his team.

“They had a couple of candidates for round one and two, and one made it to the third final round before an offer came in. ‘John’ accepted that offer and started last week.

“Except… that’s not the John my husband remembers. My husband was confused and said the following things which are weird: John has different hair and now wears glasses.

“John is talking a lot about working in a garage because his three children and wife are all at home. In the interview he mentioned being single and obviously in the desk area in the office. home.”

Green continued: “John was unable to answer some of the questions they had previously discussed in the interview, which were quite important for the position.

“Her husband described John as aloof and rather shy while John was confident and clear when they interviewed him. He was convinced that this was not the person they hired.”

Green went on to explain to her husband that the hiring committee or human resources department might have mixed up candidates, and that John had the wrong position and was accepted.

However, her husband quickly rejected that approach, saying it was highly unlikely because “only one candidate made it to the third round.” Add that other applicants were disqualified.

“He’s confident they can’t be mixed,” Green wrote.

Green said her husband received text messages from his boss “Holly”, who also believes “John is acting very differently from the John they hire.”

She explained that her husband’s boss also thought it was unlikely the candidates were mixed up.

The IT company’s legal team approved HR’s request to speak with John about the confusion.

However, the story surrounding John’s true identity ends mysteriously after HR takes a call with him.

“As soon as HR started the call with him, before they could complete the first question, John said the words ‘I quit my job’ and hung up the call. He was unreachable!! ” Green wrote.

NOT UNCOMMON

The story quickly gained traction on social media, with many people revealing similar situations happened to them.

One said she received a job offer by phone, but the company emailed paperwork to another individual with the same name who had accepted the position.

“Once I got the job offer over the phone. When I didn’t get the paperwork promised via email, I called back – turns out they emailed it to ANOTHER Courtney Holmes, and her accepted and filled out all the paperwork, assuming she got a job she hasn’t even applied for yet,” this person tweeted.

Another shared: “This happened to me, I interviewed almost a gentleman, and he was brilliant. Knowing every answer to every question can be said to be interesting; it is a scammer. When someone shows up, it’s not the person I interviewed, unskilled, super aloof really quiet.”

A third said: “I sat in a magnified interview once, where [SIC] one of my colleagues recognized the voice on the zoom as that of a friend, but that friend did not interview. Turns out the person you were talking to over the phone answered all of our questions for the candidate. “
