I own an Amazon Fire tablet and can’t believe how cheap they are getting

Like many people, I’m a fan of tech bargains and have always loved Amazon’s range of Fire tablets.

But I can’t believe how cheap Amazon makes them – the retail prices are absolutely insane.

The Fire 7 HD tablet has been reduced to £29.99 - that's the cheapest price ever

The Fire 7 HD tablet has been reduced to £29.99 – that’s the cheapest price ever

There is a Big device sale is going on at Amazonand one of the highlights has to be the Fire 7 HD tablet that was reduced by 40% to an all-time low of £29.99.

In 2014, I received an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX tablet (as the series was then called) as a gift. It immediately gave me everything I needed from a tablet – namely e-reading, browsing and streaming.

In 2021 I had to say adios to this 7 year old tablet after I shattered its screen in what I would call an unfortunate mishap.

Thankfully the Black Friday sales were well underway and I was able to pick up a Fire HD 8 tablet for the paltry sum of £39.99.

It is currently full priced at £89.99 – but that’s the thing about Fire tablets and Amazon devices in general: They are often on sale.

I’d go so far as to say that you should never pay full price for one: if you just wait a few weeks, you’ll generally find Amazon slashing prices drastically on a routine device sale.

Then you see these already affordable devices drop to incredibly low prices.

I can’t help but wonder: is Amazon even breaking even on items like the Fire 7 HD tablet, if it does costs only €29.99?

My theory is this: Like many large companies, the retailer is happy to make losses on certain items while making profits on others.

Also, the companies that place ads on the dormant screens of these tablets must be a decent source of income.

Anyway, whatever you think of Amazon and its ever-growing companies, you can’t deny that it’s doing something groundbreaking with its offering of proprietary technology.

With companies like Apple and Samsung sticking to their guns and focusing on game-changing devices like the iPad and Galaxy Tab, which feature cutting-edge processors, groundbreaking displays and prices in excess of £1000, Amazon is offering a budget-friendly alternative.

These are items you’ll love adding to your shopping cart along with the extension cords, toilet paper, multivitamins, and all the other little things you rely on Amazon for.

I’m excited to see what happens when Amazon Prime Day comes in (which will likely be) July – let’s see what other items fall in price.
