“Every house has a garage, and in front of every garage is a driveway for this house.
“My wife parks in the garage and I park outside because my car doesn’t fit in.
“Our neighbors went on holiday and left their place empty for three days. Today I got home before my wife and parked outside.
“She came home and parked in our neighbor’s driveway for half an hour until we switched cars so she could park inside because I was busy with other things and couldn’t move my car right away.
“We then got a message from our neighbors who were still on vacation. One of the other neighbors told them we parked in their space.
“They told me they noticed one of our cars parked in their driveway.
“They said they understood they weren’t home and their driveway was empty, but that had to do with principle.
“They said parking there without being asked was disappointing and showed a lack of respect.”
Amazingly, the Reddit user thought parking in his neighbor’s driveway was fine.
@u/First-Management-511 said: “I didn’t find it a problem to park in their empty lot for half an hour.
“I even offered my place to all our neighbors when we went on a week’s vacation.
However, people in the comments think that the user should have asked permission to park in someone’s driveway.
One said: “Is the place yours? Most of us learn in preschool that messing around with things that aren’t yours isn’t cool.”
Another said: “You are not at home. If it were summer, would you grab a lawn chair and sit on your lawn and read a book?
“Hopefully not. So don’t use the driveway.”
