A mother of three, tired of shopping in large stores, decided to dress up as a mummy in Turkey.
Kim Irving, 36, flew to Turkey and spent £8.2k on a new body, making her look almost unrecognizable.
The mother from Selby, North Yorkshire, underwent a stomach surgery and then a ‘mummy makeover’, which included a tummy tuck, breast augmentation with fat injections and a breast lift.
Wind lift, also known as rhinoplasty that removes fatty tissue from the pubic area which can be difficult to change even with weight loss.
Kim is now a healthy 9 pounds 12 pounds after having previously dropped her weight at 17 stone.
She gained weight as a teenager, after she got a job in a Chinese takeout and would receive a free meal four times a week after work.
Kim then went on to have three children, Maddison, 18, Lily, 15, and Aiden, 14, over a period of four years.
But now she looks and feels great with her new size 10 body.
Kim, a makeup artist, added: ‘I’ve tried so many diets and lost two stone, however, I hit a wall and couldn’t take it anymore.
“So I decided to consider weight loss surgery, and I’ve never looked back.
“I fell on the 7th day and I feel better than ever.
“However, after losing weight, I’m still not satisfied with my figure. I still can’t wear everything I want because of my loose skin.
“So I decided to go back to Turkey to do the mummy makeover.
“And I’m very happy with my new body.
“Even though I’ve grown up, I’ve never been really miserable. I’m just a chubby, funny guy.”
“Although I always have to shop in the larger area and I’m just sick of it.
“I want to be able to buy the pretty dresses that I’ll see on Oh Polly and the Pretty Little thing.”
Another factor that made Kim want surgery was the pressure of having to work in the makeup industry.
After doing some research online, Kim decided to opt for gastric bypass surgery and she will be flying to Turkey for the procedure.
She said the procedure cost her £2.7k compared to the cheapest UK price she found, which was £8k.
While surgery may cost less abroad than it does in the UK, NHS website warns that it comes with its own risks as safety standards may not be as high as in the UK.
This site advises people who are looking to travel abroad for surgery; Have a consultation with a surgeon in advance, find out what qualifications they have, how long they’ve been in the practice, and plan for contingencies like insurance and how to get home in the event of an emergency.
“The price difference is insane, it’s a no-brainer,” Kim said.
“I paid £600 for my flights, and then in August 2019 I boarded the plane with my husband and left.
“I can’t wait to finish it because I’ve seen so many great before and after photos.
“It was the first surgery I’ve ever had but I knew it would be worth it.
“After returning home from Turkey, I lost 13lbs in nine days. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I stepped on the scale, I almost passed out.
“Two years after the weight loss surgery, I lost my 5th 12lbs, not including the weight I had previously lost due to dieting, and I feel amazing.
“However, it was a mental battle to go from a size 20 to a size 10, and even though I’ve lost a lot of weight, I still don’t feel like I can wear the clothes and swimwear I’ve always dreamed of because because I had a lot of loose skin.
“I know I should be happy because I’ve lost a lot of fat, but it’s not quite right yet.
“So I started looking into plastic surgery and booked myself a trip back to Turkey to do mummy makeup and go under the knife again in September 2021.
“This package including corsets, fat grafting and rhinoplasty costs £5.5k.
“I’m not worried about the surgery, I just can’t wait to see the results. The hospital took such good care of me for the first time, I’m not worried about it.”
Six weeks after surgery, as the swelling subsided, Kim began to really notice the results of her plastic surgery.
She can’t wait to see her new belly after hating the stretchy skin in that area so much.
Kim said: “The first time I saw it, I couldn’t believe it was the body I was looking at. The belly was toned and the belly button was perfect.
“I developed a shopping addiction because I couldn’t wait to try on clothes and bikinis without having to worry about my loose skin or tight underwear.
“I take delivery of clothes every day.
“I love my body now and I feel so much more confident. I will never have to go under the knife again.
“It’s wonderful to be happy in my own body and be able to dress the way I’ve always wanted to.”
Mummy makeup has become increasingly popular over the past year, with many women flying to Turkey for low-cost surgery.
However, there are many risks to consider when flying to another country, such as Turkey, for cosmetic and plastic surgery.
Social worker Abimbola Ajoke Bamgbose, tragically died last August after paying £5,000 for an overseas package contract she kept secret from her husband.
The 38-year-old social worker from Dartford, Kent, was fed up when she was told she looked pregnant but decided that beggar lifts in the UK were too expensive, so she opted to go to Mono Cosmetic Surgery in Turkey Turkey.
An autopsy later revealed that complications from the liposuction she received had resulted in distension of the internal abdominal wall causing multiple organ failure.
Assistant coroner Alan Blunsdon said: ‘This is a tragic case, much less because the surgery was elective cosmetic surgery.
“While Mrs Bamgbose was determined to make it happen, her husband did not view it in any way as necessary.”
However, the risks involved have not diminished the popularity of Brazilian Butt Lift.
