“I styled my hair while I was in labor – I was in the worst pain but wanted to look my best.”

Secora Hawks said she spent time braiding her hair during labor and experienced “the worst pain” – because she wanted to look her best when the baby arrived

Giving birth is a beautiful thing, but it’s no secret that those who go into labor don’t exactly look glamorous once they’ve made the tough journey Your baby in the world.

But a woman further tick tock was determined to make her look her best when she was infant arrived and even made sure she wasn’t in labor so she could finish braiding her hair before going to the hospital.

Secora Hawks, who is from the US, posted a video of her staying perfectly calm and collected as she tries to finish styling her hair for her Baby’s arrivalalthough she admitted to being in “the worst pain”.

In the clip, she said: “I just took a shower so I can re-braid my hair in case I go into labour, so it looks cute.

“My husband is on the phone with the labor and delivery department to ask if we should come in and I’m definitely in the worst pain [I’ve felt] in my life.

“I’m just trying to do my hair before the pain starts again.”

Secora posting on TikTok under the username @secoraShe even paused in the middle of a braid to take a deep breath as she experienced another contraction — but she continued her gaze.

Her video was the second of two clips in which she insisted there was no way she could go into labour, as she went into labor the day before her mum visited, meaning she would miss the birth.

She added: “I’d better not go into labor because my mum won’t be due until tomorrow. I swear to god if I give birth a day before my mom is due, I’ll be p***ed.

“I also have plans for lunch with my dad for tomorrow so I’m really hoping this pain goes away tonight and I’m not really in labor.”

But no matter how much Secora tried to deny it, she was actually in labor and she welcomed her daughter into the world shortly after – with her hair in two pretty pigtails.

Commenters on Secora’s birth journey videos – which have garnered over 13 million views – supported her goal of styling her hair before going to the hospital, and many people praised her for managing to remain so calm.

One person said: “The fact that you were in the worst pain of your life still looked amazing and didn’t show you were in pain.”

While another added: “How are you so calm? I would sob on the floor.”

And others shared their own experiences of going into labor, as many said they’d also denied they went into labor until hours before their baby was born.

Someone said, “I took a two hour bath, put on makeup, had a cup of coffee, mopped my floor and had it three hours later.”

As someone else wrote, “I was in labor on Thanksgiving and didn’t want to miss dinner, so I fussed with the labor until I was done eating and then left [to the hospital].”
