“I think I still have too much energy” – Ryan Tubridy has no plans to leave Late Late Show

Ryan Tubridy has said he’s not planning on retiring from hosting The Late Late Show just yet, but he might try his hand at documentaries in the future.

The RTÉ host said he still feels “very positive” as the chat show gears up for its 61st season.

Speaking at the launch of RTÉ’s new season, he reflected on his almost 15 years in the role and said there will ultimately come a time for new challenges in the years to come.

“I have more time to think about my future and where this could all lead. I’m very hopeful about what could happen after The Late Late Show, but I’m not there yet. I’m not in this conversation,” he said.

“I’ve done the Late Late Show for almost 15 years and before that the show for five years and I’ve tried and I’ve loved it, but after that new challenges are ultimately needed. I’m very positive about the Late Late Show.

“I’m so immersed in The Late Late Show that of course when I say Late Late Show I have to think about life after, but it’s just not today or tomorrow.

“I think I’m still too needy and attention-seeking to think about turning down, I think I still have too much energy, but I’ve been thinking at the moment I’m going, ‘It’s having big ones It was fun and now it’s time to make a turn in the street’, I’m just not there yet.”

Tubridy said he vowed to live a different life after the pandemic and often thinks about turning 50 next year.

“I’ll be 50 in May and I think about it quite a bit and I think about life after the pandemic and I made a very good decision about life, that is, when the pandemic was going on,” said Me: ‘After that, I’m going to have a slightly different life,’ he said.

“I now believe in airing on the side of joy and fun and doing things that you might not have done before.”

He added that his milestone birthday will be a quiet event with a few close friends and family: “It’s going to be really low-key, family and friends, maybe and Eddie Rocket’s truck and that’s it.”

The planning for this year’s Toy Show is also in full swing, revealed the moderator, and the topic of the show has already been chosen.

“I think when I leave the Late Late Show, the hardest thing is leaving The Toy Show because it was such an important part of my life, my world,” he said.

“It’s going to be a wrench, no doubt about that, but all things have to happen.”
