I tried Dyson’s crazy pet gadget and it’s a life changer

PET hair is a nuisance for many.

Of course, you’ll want to try grooming brushes to rid the coat of loose hair.

But bits can fall off easily and you may have to pull some of it with your hands – not ideal if you have allergies.

Dyson has created a clever new vacuum gizmo specifically aimed at removing cat and dog hair with minimal mess.

It’s an attachment that attaches to the end of the Dyson vacuum, so you can turn it on and suck up all the hair at once.

The device is ideal for medium and long haired pets.

It features a comfortable pressure mechanism that you hold down while gently moving over your dog or cat’s fur.

So we decided to try it out on Lizzy who loves a good grooming brush session.

As someone whose skin is easily irritated by cat dander, the Dyson pet grooming kit certainly helped.

But I made some adjustments myself.

The device is acoustically engineered to make things more peaceful for your pet, but the problem is that Lizzy is very familiar with the sheer looks of our vacuum cleaner, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute.

Getting anywhere near her won’t end well, but I tried anyway.

In fact, she didn’t hold still – so far, so bad.

So I decide what’s best, unclip the end piece, do the brushing, then I can put it back on afterwards and vacuum it all up.

And it worked!

Lizzy was much more receptive to the less imposing appearance and indeed the 364 bristles effortlessly caught her loose hair.

I put the brush end back into the hose and turn on the Dyson vacuum and it instantly disappears.

No hair left behind, no faff.

I decide to give it a second try and this time the hair doesn’t suction right away but a quick wiggle of the trigger and it comes off.

Overall it’s a great little extra accessory, albeit a bit pricey compared to your usual £65 grooming brush.

But if you already have a cordless Dyson and have a pet, it’s a worthwhile addition.

I see a lot more value in it if you also have a long haired dog.
