Upon entering the Horizon Venues Metaverse experience, Patel said she was invited “within 60 seconds” of joining the lobby area.

Her avatar—created to reflect her real-life appearance—is quickly surrounded by three to four male avatars, with male voices.

“I was harassed verbally and sexually,” she recalls, adding that their inappropriate behavior went into the dark.

“[They] virtually gang-raped my profile picture and took pictures – when I tried to get away they yelled – “don’t pretend you don’t love it” and “rub yourself in the picture”. ”

She described the challenge as “surreal” and a “nightmare”.

Nina Patel isn’t the only one experiencing sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior in the game.

The review for Place Horizon paint a similar dirty picture, and as a result it now has 2.5/5 stars.

“I went to the Venue this morning and I’m running into a lot of perverts,” one review.

“I can’t go back until Oculus clears it of all the perverts and bullies.”

The woman described that the venue lacked personal space and felt uncomfortable.

“There are brash kids in there cursing and insulting other people,” she added.

A second review also cited a lack of personal space and “obnoxious” kids.

More importantly, they were also being followed by someone inappropriate.

“I know it’s a profile picture but it’s completely impossible to try to kiss my profile picture or have a motorcycle ride my profile picture’s boobs.

“can’t even access the menu to report him or get out of there because his profile picture gets in the way.”

While there are measures in place to protect players and the 18+ age limit, Patel says there aren’t enough protocols in place to prevent harassment.

As a mother of four, safety is paramount, and that’s why she created her own educational supermodel, called Kabuni.

Grandma explain.

“I’ll leave you with this thought,” she add.

“Do you allow your children to enter the playground knowing they may be exposed to harmful behaviors like this?”
