I was fined £100 for eating my McDonald’s takeaway in a nearby Starbucks car park

An ANGRY McDonald’s customer has been fined £100 for eating his takeaway in a Starbucks car park next door.

Firefighter Bob Spink, 50, from Brynmill, Swansea, wasn’t as happy eating when he stopped in the Starbucks car park – because there were no seats in the McDonald’s drive-thru.

He was shocked to be mailed a £100 fine for staying at bay for 16 minutes – despite never getting out of his Peugeot 207.

Bob said: “We had just bought a £12 order from McDonald’s and the car park was completely full so we parked at Starbucks to eat as there was plenty of space.

“We hadn’t realized that those penalties were a thing.

“It just feels like legalized theft, I haven’t done anything legally wrong.

“I will never go near a Starbucks again.”

Bob said he was told the fine could be reduced to £60 if he paid within 14 days.

He said: “I was flabbergasted by this, we’ve just moved here and it’s something you can’t ignore as it’s only going to get worse and add to the fee.

“I shared it in hopes of making people aware and staying off the chain.

“We hadn’t even left the car, the premise of a car park is to invite people in and it just feels like a hoax and I don’t understand what they’re trying to achieve and it doesn’t look good for the chain one.” Using parking control with such tactics.”

Starbucks said the fine at its Fabian Way, Swansea branch was a matter of third-party provider National Parking Enforcement Ltd, which declined to comment.

It comes as a woman opened up about her shock after being slapped with a £160 fine for using the car park of a GP’s surgery while attending a breast exam.

Lou Wilkinson received the bill after walking to a mobile mammography unit in the Garth Surgery car park in Guisborough.

When she received the letter from G24 Limited, she had “absolutely no idea” what it was about.
