A very angry GRANDAD after a £100 parking fine fell on his doorstep – THREE MONTHS after the initial incident.
Eddie Valentine was put in charge after parking and paying for a ticket at a shopping mall parking lot last November.
But he was fined last month after bosses claimed he had failed to pay for a ticket to the Paradise Mill car park in Bury, Greater Manchester.
But Eddie insists Car Park Securities was wrong and that he mistyped his details.
Eddie, 72, said that while it was normal to hold tickets for a few days, so much time had passed that he sneered at the receipt.
He told Manchester Evening News: “I must confess a lot of stress with this.
“They’re saying I got a ticket but I misplaced the details, that’s ridiculous.”
He added: “Most people can keep their ticket for a day or two and then walk away.
“I’m 72 years old, I know exactly what I’m doing. I don’t like being ripped off.”
Eddie and his wife challenged the fine after contacting help on Facebook.
Initially, the fee was increased from £60 to £100 after an appeal – but was later rescinded altogether.
The cancellation letter reads: “The appeal has been reviewed.
“I can see from our records that the ticket was issued because the registration plate number was entered incorrectly, we prepare on this occasion to cancel the notice.
“In the future, please make sure you enter the details correctly to make sure you don’t receive any more parking fee notifications.”
