She was helped by their daughter, who is also disabled, and then the family had to pack the scooter into the car.

They spent £1,500 at Coventry’s Central Six retail park on 24 November 2021 – but were fined £70 for staying late.

Bob said to CoventryLive: “By the time they got the scooter back it took 3 hours 20 minutes and it was 3 hours overdue, finally they were ready to go, my wife had to go to the bathroom, and had to go back to Boots. it took longer. .

“The fact that they spent over £1,500 between them would negate any time constraints because they are doing very well in retail.

“I rewrote and challenged the fine, I have no sympathy at all, no disability allowance, if you exceed three hours you will be fined.”

Now Bob is challenging dinner from parking company G24, which operates the Central Six Retail parking lot.

“They sent back a second letter asking for a fine, I just ignored it,” he explained.

He has reached out to the company – but has yet to speak to someone who will listen to him.

The fee would have been £42 if paid within 14 days of issue, but has now risen to £70.

Bob said:[G24] being so greedy that they will penalize someone for spending money in their retail, that’s ridiculous.

“I’d rather shop somewhere else”.

He added: “I understand there could be an issue of people overstaying because commuters can use it for free, if someone is legitimately shopping at their mall, even if they spend a lot of money. spend less money, I think there should be no time limit.”

The Sun approached G24 for comments.
