I was given a ticket for parking in front of my own HOME… Money greed guides only target vulnerable people

A MAN was furious with the advice after receiving his first parking ticket to park in front of his own house.
David Wright, also known as Ian, has lived near Everton’s Goodison Park stadium in Liverpool for more than 40 years.
His property happens to fall in a parking zone where residents have been given parking permits so they won’t be fined.
Mr Wright accepts he may not have renewed his permit but says he was still shocked when his car was hit with a ticket on the evening of January 3.
The retiree said he’s never had trouble parking his motor in the area.
And he questioned the timing of his fine as the council seeks to make budgetary cuts, the reports Mirror.
Mr Wright said: “They say my permit has expired but I think that happened before the season started and I haven’t had tickets yet – in fact I haven’t had tickets since I’ve lived here in 1981.
“If it’s been out of date all along, why am I only getting a fine now?”
And he criticized the council for targeting vulnerable people.
He continued: “Suddenly the Council is on my case and issuing a ticket for my car parked in front of my house at 7.30pm at night when it’s pitch black. Are you short on cash?
“Is the community bad enough that they have to squeeze money out of retirees like me in an already disadvantaged area?
“Of course I challenged this fixed ticket in writing and with photos.”
Liverpool Council confirmed that the permit in question expired last September and the fine was therefore correctly issued.
The local authority said Mr Wright has until January 27 to pay the reduced rate and is welcome to appeal the decision if he so chooses.
The council added that resident parking permits are renewed annually and Mr Wright can apply for an extension at any time.
It comes after another pensioner was left stunned after being fined £100 simply for doing his laundry.
Meanwhile, a motorist was locked in a dispute with her neighbor after they left a handwritten note on her car asking her to park elsewhere.
And a driver has been fined a “ridiculous” £160 for making a simple 30cm parking error.
