‘I was on Piers Morgan’s show Uncensored – and they tried to censor me about Meghan’

Comedian and activist Kate Smurthwaite claims she was “censored” during her appearance on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored.

She said producers had warned her not to be ‘too personal’ with the presenter and echoed earlier criticisms of his “obsession” with Meghan Markle.

However, Piers denied this and said in a tweet: “I just checked and no one is trying to censor you – we don’t censor guests, that’s the point of the show.”

TalkTV also told Mirror Online it had ‘nothing left to add’.

Last night I was a guest on Piers Morgan’s Talk TV show NO SENSOR. As a left-wing political comedian, I do it for the money and because I like to treat the viewer with a valid counter argument.

The producer made a note in my diary last week and called in the morning to let me know what topics would be discussed and to ask for my views. Standard process.

After their morning meeting, I also got a confirmation call. They were expecting to have me on. The only thing is… they didn’t want me to mention some of the things I said in our earlier conversation. One notable claim for a program is literally “uncensored”.

You may be wondering what they don’t want me to say. The subject of discussion was Meghan Markle. That’s what most of his shows are about in case, like 99.9% of the British public, you don’t watch.

They didn’t want me to be “too private” with Morgan. They didn’t want me to criticize him or try to explain his “hateful obsession” with her.

The main thing they don’t want me to say is: “You know that no matter how many hours you spend killing her, she won’t love you?”. THAT’S RIGHT. Fun. Deep. What if you don’t love?

I don’t blame the manufacturer. The work of producing a show like this is 95% ‘censorship’. By that, I mean choosing which voices and points of view will be broadcast and therefore inevitably which voices and views will not. May I graciously use the term “edit”.

The point, in my opinion, is that Piers and his colleagues, on Talk TV, GB News and, across the pond, Fox News all call out “censorship” whenever an editorial decision goes. against their point of view.

Also on this show, Morgan used the new c to describe schools that took To Kill A Mockingbird out of the English literature curriculum.

The book was not burned in the street, nor was it taken out of the library, nor was the student locked up and sent to prison camps to read it. School children simply won’t be forced to read it.

Censorship, censorship in fact, is a real human rights issue worldwide. Voices like those of Ai Weiwei and Raif Badawi are silenced after prison sentences and state-sponsored violence. If the man had any idea what it was, he wouldn’t have liked the word for his own editorial wars.

This makes Piers Morgan’s interest in free speech seem utterly hypocritical, in my view. If, as he later stated on Twitter, there had been no attempt to censor me, his producers would not have warned me in advance so as not to be “too personal” with Piers when discussing his topic. Meghan.

I want to discuss his childhood obsession with Markle. And then while I talk about his nasty attitude towards some other celebrities and how the right-wing media will call for censorship when it suits them and engage in it. same when it doesn’t fit.

I have many things to say.
