IRISH actress Caitríona Balfe has revealed that she was once dumped by an agent for not doing “a hot girl’s thing”.
Monaghan’s star was a model before entering the acting world, but after small roles, she was noticed by her management.
And she recalls her standing in a dog park with a friend when he called to kick her out because she hadn’t had a job for months.
She said: “He kept saying to me, ‘You have to wear dresses and makeup and do things like a hot girl.’ And it’s not me. I’m glad I know that I want to do it with integrity, if that makes sense. “
It seems the agent was wrong to make that call because in 2013 she landed the lead role of Claire in the hit TV series. Outlander, and now Ma from the movie Belfast.
But with fame came her way, and while most of them were supportive, some were beginning to believe she was in a relationship with her Outlander on-screen love, actor Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie.
Meanwhile, she is in a relationship with her current husband, Scottish music director, Anthony McGill.
She told Vanity Fair that someone had called the church where they were getting married to prove that their marriage wasn’t real.
And she revealed that she has been told that private investigators have been hired by several fans to prove she and Heughan are together and that he is the father of her new son. that.

Most people didn’t even know that she was pregnant until she shared the news on Instagram that she had one. son last August.
But Caitriona said she made no secret of her pregnancy.
“Everybody at work knows it, all my friends know it, everyone I come into contact with in my life knows it,” she said. But in terms of putting it out there, I don’t see its worth. I think there are some good things to have for yourself. ”
And because she is currently very protective of her son, she said she will not share his name or any pictures of him online.
She admitted: “I don’t want those crazy things – because that’s what they are – I just don’t want them talking about him.”
She added: “It’s sad, because you meet the loveliest people who are fans of the show and they’re super supportive and they do the most amazing things — and then you get that little thing. , this just makes it.”
Her own family in Ireland only got to see the baby in recent weeks when she returned to attend the Belfast premiere in the Northern Irish city.
The 42-year-old said: “They haven’t met the baby yet. They didn’t see me pregnant. It’s like this whole event happened without seeing them.”
Caitríona co-starred with Jamie Dornan, who played Pa, Ciaran Hinds as Pop and Judi Dench as Granny in the film created by actor Kenneth Branagh.
Set in a time of troubles, it’s something close to her heart.
Caitriona said: “As an Irishman, you have read a lot of scripts about Trouble, and they all have this version of romantic violence. It always annoys me, because I don’t think that’s what should be romanticized. And this is a scenario that really focuses on the affected families, people, and communities. “
And while talking about family life, she said that the joy of being on Belfast is seeing so many women and mothers being part of the crew, which she doesn’t see much of on Outlander.
“When you get to a certain age, if you want to have a family, you end up stepping off that ladder and I think it’s very difficult for them to come back,” she said.
“It’s something that we need to deal with as an industry because I look at our camera crew, all the great guys, all of whom became fathers in eight years. We acted in movies, but none of them had to give up their positions. . ”
