At just 18, Jessica Pin believed she had an abnormal vagina.
Even though Labia correction Surgery, performed by a respected obstetrician-gynecologist, went awry and left her with severed nerves.
Because of this, Jessica has no sensation down because of the dorsal nerves from her clitoris We are damaged.
Jessica, who lives in San Francisco, USA, said that her entire labia minora was removed – and that the surgeon also reduced the size of her clitoral hood – which she believes was done without her consent.
Labiaplasty is an operation aimed at reducing the size of the labia minora — the flaps of skin on either side of the opening of the labia vagina.
The procedure is also known as the “designer vagina” and should not be performed on girls under the age of 18.
While it’s perfectly normal to have skin folds at the opening of the vagina, some women choose to have them because they don’t like the way their labia look.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost for the procedure in the US, where Jessica had hers, is around $3,053, excluding this anesthesiaOR facilities or other related expenses.
In the UK, it costs between £2,000 and £4,000.
After Jessica suffers severe mental health issues after her surgery, she urges women to go under the knife for medical reasons only.
This could be because the excess labia twists and squirms, causing irritation.
“I’ve been in denial for years, reflecting [the loss of feeling] was fixable, or there was a way around it.
“Then I was suicidal for years. Trying to come to terms with that was very difficult,” she said news.com.au.
Mental health issues are a serious problem and can lead people to consider taking their own lives as things often seem like too much.
The Sun previously launched its You Are Not Alone campaign to remind anyone going through a difficult time that there is hope.
Now Jessica thinks her surgery was botched due to a lack of knowledge of the medicine surrounding the clitoris.
When she complained about her lack of feeling, Jessica said she wasn’t believed and that doctors told her to “get over it.”
“The gaslighting made it a lot worse. I’ve been told for a long time that it’s all in my head.
What does a labiaplasty involve?
A labiaplasty can be performed under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
The labia are shortened or reshaped.
The unwanted tissue is cut away with a scalpel or laser. The loose edge can be sewn up with fine dissolvable stitches.
The whole process takes about 1 to 2 hours.
Maybe you can go home the same day.
It costs around £2.00 to £4,000 plus the cost of any consultations or follow-up appointments.
“Then I was told I was ‘making mountains out of molehills’ and asked why I was so obsessed with sex. I was told to just get over it. I was told that I was ‘normal’. I was told it was my fault,” she added.
Jessica said surgeons underestimate the risks associated with the procedure, which can include decreased genital sensitivity, scar tissue and infection.
As with any surgery, there is a risk of a blood clot in the vein and an allergic reaction to the anesthetic.
Since her experience, Jessica has published a complete anatomy of the clitoris in the medical literature.
She initially continued to describe her ordeal Redditwhere she also asked other women with similar studies to get in touch.
She also published a study in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
It describes how the dorsal nerves in the clitoris are larger than previously thought and that knowledge of these nerves should be emphasized before performing any surgery near the clitoris.
