A WOMAN wearing a wedding dress to her brother’s wedding took to Reddit to complain after her new sister-in-law accused her of “ruining” her wedding ceremony.
The anonymous poster shared her story on Am I The Asshole? forum, explaining that guests to a winter wonderland wedding were asked to wear “silver, white, or light blue” to match the theme.
“All the outfits are said to be very impressive, even my brother’s wife said she doesn’t mind if they don’t even stand out, we all have to look like rock stars, there’s even a prize for the best dressed guest at the end, a fun game I want to play with,” she wrote.
While a lot of the couple’s friends were buying expensive dresses, she worked too much to get a chance to go shopping.
“I had dinner with them a few months before the wedding and my brother suggested that I wear my own wedding dress (white and silver) because I have never been married, she agreed because someone else’s anyway. will also wear white,” she wrote.
Continuing the conversation, the woman in the wedding dress went to the wedding reception and was “praised all night”.
She even won the Best Dressed award.
“The wife was great all night but then I didn’t hear from my brother for about a week,” she continued.
“When I went to find out what had happened, it seemed his wife was extremely upset when I wore her wedding dress and that I ruined her big day and the only one who should wear a wedding dress to the ceremony. the bride is the bride.”
While the poster admitted that she would normally agree with that statement, she added that she thought it would be fine because the bride had previously agreed to it.
“She called me so many names and my brother even said the way she was talking about me that he was starting to regret marrying her, he was very protective of his siblings,” she wrote. .
Concluding, she revealed that “guilt is basically eating me alive”.
“She said I was an asshole and I should have known better despite her ‘apparently reluctant confirmation’ and my brother saying I was completely fine and did nothing wrong,” she said. end.
Before the post, most people agreed that the woman was not wrong.
“They suggested it AND you both got it,” one person wrote.
“If this is an issue, she shouldn’t say yes.
“Or, if she’s uncomfortable saying no at the time, she might pull you or your brother aside to let you know she’s uncomfortable with it at any point. in the months leading up to the wedding.”
“She’s just jealous!” another commented. “I will be like the brother who regrets marrying her.
“If I were to marry someone, I would be happy even if the cake burned because of the guests in swimsuits and the deaf band.
“Unfortunately, a lot of women want attention….. Too bad for them.”
“When she made the offer, she denied any ‘rights’ she might have to appeal,” a third agreed.
Speaking of weddings, this one one woman threw a budget wedding – and even the dress was £5.
