Undefeated prospect Ian Garry made it two for two as he passed Darian Weeks at UFC 273.
There was little action in the first round as Garry used his size advantage to stay out of Weeks’ reach. The Irishman mixed his kicks well as Weeks tried to pin Garry against the fence and take him to the ground.
Weeks struggled to land anything worth mentioning as Garry kept attacking his legs. The American tried to work out takedowns against the cage but Garry defended well to keep the fight going.
Garry upped his game in the third round when he landed a front kick to Weeks’ face. He then dropped the American with a big right hand. Garry looked for the takedown by pinning Weeks against the fence as the fight drew to a close.

After three rounds the judges saw 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, all in Garry’s favor as the 23-year-old extended his unbeaten record to 9-0.
Garry made his second UFC appearance at the Jacksonville, Fla. event after winning his promotion debut last year. “The Future” beat Jordan Williams at UFC 268 and a tribute to compatriot Conor McGregor in his post-fight interview.
Weeks made his UFC debut last December when he stepped in on short notice to fight Bryan Barberena. The 28-year-old suffered the first loss of his professional career when he was outwitted by cunning veteran Barberena.
“I was struggling to find my rhythm. It’s 15 minutes in the cage, I’m not happy with that as I like finishing fights but it’s experience and like I said before. I’m not perfect but I am am it.” I know I still have a lot to learn,” said Garry.
Garry also announced that his wife, TV star Layla Anna-Lee, is pregnant and they are expecting their first child together later this year. The couple have been together for the last year and married in Las Vegas in February.
“My wife is pregnant, we are expecting at the end of the year. Dana, Mick, Sean, line them up, I’ll take them out. When I’m done with this department, everyone’s gonna call me dad.”
