Iarnród Éireann announces railway work over the weekend, with regional and intercity routes affected

Iarnród Éireann has announced that significant railway work will take place in several locations across the country this weekend.

As a result, a number of land and interurban services will be impacted on Saturday and Sunday 24th and 25th.

The route between Portarlington and Limerick Junction is closed due to a series of track and signaling works,” Irish Rail said in a statement.

“All services between Dublin and Cork, Kerry and Limerick will operate partial or full bus transfers and a revised timetable, with other services also affected.”

Services between Cork and Dublin Heuston only operate between Cork and Limerick Junction in both directions and on a limited timetable.

However, customers should note that for those traveling between Cork and Dublin Heuston, coach transfers are provided for the entire journey.

Customers arriving from other stations including coach transfers between Limerick Junction and Heuston. Please check times before travelling.

Direct services between Limerick and Dublin Heuston are replaced by coach transfers for the full journey in both directions and operate on a limited timetable.

Journeys between Limerick and Dublin Heuston that involve a connection at Limerick Junction have coach transfers between Limerick Junction and Heuston, operating on a limited timetable in both directions.

Services between Tralee and Dublin Heuston include coach transfers between Limerick Junction and Heuston in both directions.

Services between Tralee and Mallow and between Tralee and Cork will operate as usual with some minor time changes.

Commuter services between Portlaoise and Dublin Heuston include bus transfers between Portlaoise and Portarlington in both directions.

The Limerick to Ballybrophy (via Nenagh) and Limerick Junction to Waterford services will operate on a revised timetable in both directions.

In the meantime the route between Dun Laoghaire and Wicklow will be closed for signaling and sea defense work.

There will be no DART service between Dun Laoghaire and Greystones.

Dublin Bus and GoAhead are accepting train tickets to and from the affected areas. DART services only operate between Howth/Malahide and Dun Laoghaire.

Intercity services from Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort involve coach transfers between Connolly and Wicklow in both directions.

“Customers are advised to check times before travelling, with full details on www.irishrail.ie and on the Iarnród Éireann app,” added Irish Rail.

“We apologize to customers for any inconvenience caused by this essential work.”
