Along with some of his fellow celebrity skaters, Brendan has faced ‘correction’ claims throughout the film because of his trained dance background.

Brendan studied pasodoble, ballroom and ballet as a child before competing for his native New Zealand in professional dance competitions and placing 3rd for the Latin American team at the 2003 UK Closed Championships.

The 45-year-old competed and won the first series of the movie Seriously Come Dance with Natasha Kaplinsky and appeared in 15 series before he was told his contract would not be renewed. Renewed in 2018.

Several critics took to Twitter to point out the ‘unfair advantage’ Brendan has over some of his figure skaters.

One person wrote: “Professional dancers are not allowed to participate in other shows. They have a clear advantage #dancingonice . ”

“The advantage is completely unfair… All Brendan needs to do is learn how to skate,” added another.

Brendan won the first rigorous series

A third agreed: “I hate when they say ‘they might be a professional dancer, but that doesn’t help, when you’re on the ice’, yes it helps, because Brendan just got an 8 on show one, with no mention of bad lines and everyone else getting a bad line comment.”

Not only does Brendan have a dance background like Regan Gascoigne has attended ballet and musical theater studies, while Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt also has an impressive dance CV.

During an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in January, Brendan addressed criticism that he signed up for the show as ‘unfair’.

“There’s been quite a few people saying ‘it’s not fair – he’s a dancer,'” Brendan said.

“There were a few dancers on the show, which was great, but that’s where you start and where you end.”

Brendan emphasized how important each competitor’s journey on the show is to the audience, saying: “If you just stop there, it’s not going to be a good viewing for anyone, so I hope it will. improve.”

According to a source from Dancing on Ice, there is a lot of tension behind the scenes between the skaters still lingering in the competition.

It was one of the most competitive series in the show’s history and all the rest of the skaters believed they were capable of winning.

There are five skaters still hoping to lift the trophy but only three will make it to the final.

Recently they said YES! : “This year, the show is the most competitive it’s ever been.

“They all want to win and the standards are very high. You can cut the atmosphere with a knife, you can really feel the tension.

“They’re all training like crazy. Nobody cares about coming in second, they all want to win.”
