Idris Elba has revealed more about the return of detective John Luther in the upcoming 2023 film.
The British star, 50, shared a photo online of his character, who will return next year in Luther: The Fallen Sun.
Dermot Crowley will also reprise the role of detective Martin Schenk, while Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis will join the cast.
Captioning the image previously shared by Netflix on its Instagram page, Elba wrote: “He’s back…
“Luther: The fallen sun. March 2023. See you soon.”
The photo shows the hot-tempered detective in an underground tunnel, showing a curious expression.
Other images released by Netflix show DCI Luther grimacing as he traverses the snow-covered mountain landscape in his signature tweed jacket.
In another instance, he stretched out both his arms, seemingly calming the situation.
Speaking to Empire magazine about Luther’s much-anticipated film, Elba said: “We get out of the barren streets of London, we take it out there a little bit.
“It’s great. It feels like we’re entering another life of the Luther experience now.”
Elba also serves as a producer on the film, written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne.
Luther: The Fallen Sun, slated to premiere in March 2023.
