Damn right. If you want to be successful at work, play POKER.
Research shows that card players are better at decision making and critical thinking — and more likely to get a raise.
A survey of 500 UK adults who play the card game found that more than half (54%) believe it gives them skills they can use in the workplace.
These include the ability to read people (58%) and deal with pressure (56%), while 54% have increased their patience.
Overall, more than half of the players completed the study on behalf of 888Poker.comsaid playing the popular card game has helped them advance in their careers.

Abby Merk, a teacher at Poker Power, said, “I now focus on the quality of my decision making, not the outcome of the hand.
“I’ve learned to deal with loss and to put myself first in my learning development to best position myself for success.”
Other areas where players felt poker skills could be particularly beneficial in the workplace were negotiating a raise (40%) or having difficult conversations with clients (38%).
Of the respondents, a higher percentage of women than men (64% vs. 55%) believe that poker has developed their ability to read people.
Similarly, 62% of female poker players agreed that playing the game improved their decision-making compared to 54% of males.
Confidence is also a key skill that women in particular have developed through poker – 54% agreed versus 46% of men.
