I’m a car expert – here’s how to dispute a speeding ticket to avoid paying

A CAR EXPERT showed how to dispute a speeding ticket to avoid paying.
As the cost of living continues to fall, Brits are looking for tips to avoid paying hefty fines.
And TikTok users @marktilbury shared some tips for contesting speeding tickets.
The driver said: “I’ve just been fined £500 for speeding.
The expert replied, “Don’t pay it. You admit you did it, and you might get points.”
The driver said, “What do you mean, don’t pay?
The expert suggested: “Make a court date. The officer will likely not show up and the case will be dropped.”
The driver asked, “What if it rocks up?”
The expert replied: “Then check how the speed was recorded.
“It’s often inaccurate and uncalibrated, meaning you’re off the hook.”
The driver asked: “And if that doesn’t work?”
The expert replied: “Then you pay the fine and collect the points. Good luck next time.”
The Road Traffic Act states: “You must not exceed the speed limit for the road or for your vehicle. A speed limit of 30 mph (48 km/h) generally applies to all streetlit roads (except motorways) unless other signs are posted.”
The video had 718,800 views and 73,500 comments.
Most of the people in the comments don’t think this hack is useful.
One said: “It doesn’t work anymore. You may no longer request calibration certificates.
Another said: “It never works these days. And if it doesn’t work you have to pay a court fee on top of that.”
A third pointed out: “Inaccurate” speed guns almost always show a speed lower than your speed due to the position of the radar. That’s not a good argument.

The user responded to all comments by saying, “Using this hack saves points, which keeps insurance low. But it doesn’t always work.”
