I’m a celebrity: Matt Hancock says Liz Truss’ career in politics is ‘over’

Matt Hancock Earlier this month he controversially joined ITV’s I’m A Celebrity and now he has opened up to housemates about UK politics.

That former health minister described Liz Truss’s career in politics as “over”.

Roommates are completely cut off from the outside world when spending time indoors i am a celebrity Jungle so it’s no wonder some of them are missing to hear what’s going on back home.

Scarlet Douglas began to think about the current political situation in Great Britain.

She said, “I wonder if Rishi is still in power.”

Hancock was quick to respond, saying, “Yes, he will.”

It wasn’t long before Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver asked the MP what he thought of Liz Truss’ short-lived stint as Prime Minister.

Wasting no time, she asked, “What do you think went wrong, Matt?”

To which he replied: “In a way, they were unlucky that interest rates were all going up around the world, just as they were also doing… a financial report where you say, ‘We’re going to do all this expensive stuff and we’re not going to say how we do it will pay'”.

Cleaver continued with her next question: “Where is she now?”

“Your political career is over. No ambiguity at all,” Hancock said.

Shortly after, viewers caught Hancock speaking on the Bush Telegraph, where he said, “There I sat in the comfy red chair and I felt like I was on top of Mastermind being asked all these questions.”

Journalist Charlene White also chimed in with a question, asking the MP: “Why do you think members of the Tory party have opted for the less experienced…”

Hancock said: “I think that’s all about how Boris got kicked out. It was about people seeing Rishi wielding the knife at Boris.”

White continued, “So they decided, one could argue, to punish the whole country by using someone with less experience?”

Hancock replied: “That implies a malicious motive which is not fair. But they definitely see disloyalty to Boris as a negative, a bigger factor than…”

Seann Walsh also popped a question to Matt, asking, “Were you a die-hard Boris?”

Hancock said: “Look, I was very supportive of him, but it was about time. When it was time to go, it was time to go.”

The conversation then moved to Boris Johnson, who returned to the UK after Truss resigned with White and asked Hancock: “What was your first thought when he flew back from his holiday in the Caribbean?”

Hancock shared that he was in touch with the former PM: “I texted him and said, ‘You know, I think you’re wonderful, but it’s not your time. The best thing for the country is that you support Rishi and that we get him up and running as soon as possible.
