I’m a dad and I hate hearing Christmas carols early, but I discovered an amazing Amazon Alexa hack that’s keeping me sane

One DAD, annoyed at hearing Christmas carols “too early,” programmed their Alexa speakers to decline festive requests until next month.
Mark Lovell, 42, panicked when he overheard his three kids discussing holiday tunes earlier this month — so he cleverly set up a “Skill” to ignore “Play Christmas music” in the Alexa app.
He denies his ruse is “Grinch-like” and insists he loves festive music – but only when December arrives.
In recordings testing his plan, he requests celebratory tunes and his smart speakers reply, “I’m sorry, I can’t do that until December.”
Alexa will now block the phrases “Play Christmas Music”, “Play Christmas Albums”, “Play Christmas Carols”, “Play Christmas Carols” and “Play Christmas Hits”.
This now stops children Zachary, nine, Max, seven, and Polly, five.
Advisor Mark of Leighton Buzzard, Beds said: “I’ve long maintained that Christmas is coming too soon and I feel like December is the start.
“I see adverts in September and get irritated.
“Once it’s December, I’ll delete the rule and also play Christmas carols in repeat.”
