I’m a driving teacher and here are my top three tips that will help you pass your driving test

A DRIVING instructor has offered top tips for Britons to pass their driving test with flying colours.
Passing the driving test isn’t easy – about half of all learners fail the annual practice test.
A recent survey conducted by RED Driving School showed that 80% of learners had to delay their driving lessons due to the pandemic and 78% of learners felt more pressure to pass for the first time because of the pandemic.
And data has shown that aspiring drivers may be forced to wait until 2024 to get their license, creating further stress for those already registered for the test.
Now Seb Goldin, CEO of RED has shared his top three tips to help you pass your first driving test…
Avoid caffeine
According to Mr. Goldin, those hoping to get a full license should avoid drinking coffee or tea before your test.
“Cutting down on caffeine or completely eliminating it can have a surprisingly positive effect on anxiety and overall focus before the driving test,” he says.
Eat before the test
Learner drivers must always have food in their stomach before going out to take the test.
“While we recommend cutting back on caffeine, don’t cut out food – make sure you’ve eaten something before the test,” says Mr. Goldin.
Repeat request
Mr Goldin’s final golden rule is to always make sure you understand what the examiner is asking you.
He said: “Ask your examiner to repeat.
“If you are not listening correctly during your test, it is important to stay calm and simply ask the examiner to repeat themselves.
“There’s no shame in doing this, and you won’t be the first or last to do so! Panic can cause you to lose focus and slip. “
How long does the driving test take?
Here are the 5 parts of the driving test:
- check eyesight
- ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions
- common driving ability
- reverse your car
- Independent driving
You will drive about 40 minutes.
You will drive for about 70 minutes if you are taking an extended driving test because you have been banned from driving.
