People are realizing what these very common iPhone icons mean

This iPhone Sounds are designed to help you block out the world around you.

There are many reasons you might want to do this, including trying to fall asleep.

Maybe you’re trying to hop in a strange place or on a long plane or train journey.

White noise and the sound of rain have both been linked to better sleep.

Thank God, Apple offers a whole range of sounds on iPhone to lock out the world.

There are six options to choose from:

  • Balanced noise
  • Light noise
  • Dark noise
  • ocean
  • Rain
  • electricity

If you are using them for the first time, you will need to download them from Apple.

But it only takes a few seconds with a good internet connection.

How to enable iPhone background noise

Go to your Settings app and choose Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Background Noise.

Now toggle the Background noise switch at the top of the page to the ON position.

Then go to Sound and choose one you like.

You can then set a volume and even choose whether you want the background noise to play during the media.

That means you can hear soothing rain sounds while listening to a podcast.

If you don’t want to navigate to this menu every time, you can create a shortcut.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut, then select Background Noise.

Now when you triple click the side button on your iPhone, your selected background sounds will play.
