I’m a makeup artist and here’s my secret to keeping your skin bacteria-free with concealer

A MAKEUP artist has warned against using the sponges that come with many concealer pens, acknowledging they are a reservoir for germs and bacteria.
So, to avoid the spread of such bacteria, some people are taking the sponge out of their concealer.
Makeup artist John Henry Paterson took to TikTok to share a video of a woman taking a sponge out of her Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser.
“So I took the sponge off myself – it usually comes with the sponge but the sponge literally soaks everything up,” she explains.
Responding to the video, John said: “That’s smart – my goodness. I got a brand new one and I’m going to tear the sponge off, just like she did.”
Opening the package, he then pulled the sponge out, before exclaiming: “It’s easy, just roll up as much as you want… Wow, easy.”
After completing the hack, he explained, “If you’re a working makeup artist, this is literally the smartest thing you can do.
“It’s hygienic, you don’t have to worry about the sponge soaking up the product, and you can use it for your customers.”
The video quickly attracted comments from viewers, with one person writing: “They are not glued down so you can wipe the sponge clean for hygiene reasons!
“That’s what the brand rep told me at work a few years ago.”
“Oh, it’s good to know!” John replied. “Especially if it’s for personal use! Can prevent the accumulation of bacteria that can cause acne.”
“SO INTELLIGENT!” another wrote, with John replying: “Is that right?! My mind exploded when I saw it.”
“I’m going to get the sponge off me,” another commented.
“Yes! I love concealer but the sponge really just soaks it all in,” added another makeup fan.
