I’m a mother of two – I got my kids free Christmas presents thanks to a simple side hustle, and so can you

Mum-of-two Chloe Palmer didn’t have to spend a penny on her kids’ Christmas gifts after earning hundreds by filling out surveys.

Chloe, 35, from Gloucester, made £330 in just two months after discovering online survey site Qmee in October last year.

Chloe has made hundreds of pounds just from completing surveys

She switched from scrolling through social media in her free time to working 45 minutes a day for her money-making side hobby.

The duration and amount you can get for each survey varies.

Chloe gets anything from 10p to £1.50 per survey – but the longer it takes, the more you earn.

She chooses surveys that only last between five and ten minutes, rather than longer ones.

This way she can put them on while waiting for her kids to get home from school or when waiting in a supermarket line, for example.

She conducts up to nine surveys a day, up to six days a week.

She earns an average of £5 to £7 a day, but that varies – sometimes she earns more.

“I’ve made around £330 since I started using it – it basically paid for all the children’s Christmas presents.

“I’ve also invested the money for family outings and build up my emergency reserves in case my car breaks down, for example.”

Chloe has downloaded the Qmee app to her phone and uses it to fill out the surveys.

“You can do it on desktop, but I find it easier to do it on my phone,” she said.

She downloaded it in October and started making money right away.

“Christmas was coming and I knew the kids wanted more expensive things

“I thought about how I could make extra money for Christmas without giving up my savings and downloaded it to my phone.”

Choosing the right survey

You can’t fill out every survey of your choice – companies are looking for a specific type of people to participate.

You’ll need to answer a few screening questions to verify your eligibility, and you’ll usually be asked about your age, income, and where you live.

If you fail the screening, you will not be able to complete the survey.

After hours of experience, Chloe now knows the types of surveys she is allowed to take and chooses to take them so she doesn’t waste time.

“The surveys are quick and easy to administer, and the majority are multiple choice,” she said.

“But for some you have to write a few sentences – although you are not expected to write chapters and verses. You also get paid more for these surveys.”

Chloe is saving her Qmee income to book a family vacation abroad this summer.

What other sites are there?

One of the great advantages of using Qmee for Chloe was that she could withdraw her earnings whenever she wanted.

But there are other websites that you can use to fill out surveys.

Polling site ylive-community.com (formerly PopulusLive) can pay out £1 to £4 per poll.

While Swagbucks.com is a popular site where you earn gift cards with your survey points.

Other sites include i-Say, Crowdology, the Curious Cat apps, and Google Opinion Rewards.

It’s worth checking how much you’ll earn, how you can get it (e.g. in cash or in vouchers) and how often you can cash out for each site.

Make sure you sign up for email notifications on your phone.

You can jump on a survey as soon as it arrives—usually, the quicker you are, the more likely you are to be accepted.
