According to nutritionist Signe Svanfeldt at sum of life There are frozen foods that you should omit when ordering.
Speaking to The Sun, the guru argued that items from the supermarket’s cooler aisles can be great for our health.
Signe explained: “There are many great options that are packed with nutrients and fiber, including frozen whole grain breads, vegetables, fruits and berries.
“However, there are some frozen foods that are quite low in nutrients but high in sodium, saturated fats and added sugars.
“We should aim to eat these in lower amounts, as high intakes of these foods have been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.”
But what are the worst offenders?
Pizzas are a treat, but many frozen pizzas have a thicker crust and are often topped with processed meat.

“These are high in sodium and saturated fat, which when consumed in excess are linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity,” Signe said.
Pastries are a delicious breakfast dish and pair perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee.
But Signe said these are typically high in saturated fat.
“This increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and added sugar, which could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity,” she added.
3. Fried foods
While they may be delicious, fried foods, especially those that are frozen with preservatives, are high in saturated fat and sodium.
Signe said, “Eating a large amount of these foods is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity.”

However, one expert questioned whether it is worth eating them at risk to your health.
Allison Tallman, Registered Dietitian at SportingSmiles.com, narrates Fox: “This product has limited beneficial nutritional value. The excess calories and fats can lead to weight gain.”
The nutritional value of foods doesn’t change when you freeze them, but foods that are made to freeze sometimes contain additional ingredients to make them last longer.
Signe added that if you want to find foods that are more nutritious and contain less sodium, added sugars and saturated fat, you should always check the nutrition label and find options with less of them.
“However, no foods and nutrients are so unhealthy that they have to be completely eliminated from the menu, it’s about a balanced and varied diet according to the energy requirements,” she adds.
