I’m a nutritionist – so Kim Kardashian’s drastic weight loss at the Met Gala is a MISTAKE

AN EXPERT has revealed why Kim Kardashian’s extreme weight loss at the Met Gala is both dangerous and a waste of time.
The reality TV star and lawyer revealed she lost 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress at Monday’s iconic event.

In the evening, the 41-year-old ate pizza and donuts, telling Instagram fans, “I haven’t had any carbs or sugar in almost a month…I’m so excited.”
Famed nutritionist and weight-loss specialist Kim Pearson warned that extreme dieting “often leads to a subsequent binge.”
She told The Sun: “It really isn’t a good idea to go from a restrictive low-carb, low-sugar diet to highly processed, fried and high-sugar foods.
“We also need to remember that the 16 pounds isn’t going to be all fat loss.
“Part of this is probably water loss that accompanies low-carb diets.
“As soon as she eats carbohydrates, this water loss is immediately replaced.”
Ms Pearson, who runs a clinic in Harley Street London, said: “We often see celebrities who need to achieve a certain physique for a film role, photo shoot or event.
“I’m currently working with a popular singer ahead of her tour this summer. Often there is not much attention, so we need to get maximum results in a short time.

“One thing I’m never willing to do is jeopardize my health for weight loss.
“Crash dieting can cause menstrual irregularities, impair immunity, decrease energy levels and impair digestive function.
“Over time there can be loss of bone density, hair loss and muscle wasting. There are many ways that extreme diets can negatively impact both our physical and mental health.”
In an Instagram Story, mom-of-four Kim said, “After the Met I’m starving,” and shared pictures of donuts and pizza boxes.
Just hours earlier, on the red carpet, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians graduate shared the extreme effort she went into for the multi-million dollar gown.
Kim told Vogue that at first the dress didn’t match her characteristic curves.
She told the magazine: “I tried it on and it didn’t fit me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks’.
“I had to lose 16 kilos today.”
Kim continued, “It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] Role. I was determined to pass [into] it. I haven’t had any carbs or sugar for about three weeks.”
Ms Pearson said she is concerned about how Kim’s comments will affect young and vulnerable people.
She said: “Diet and weight loss advice from glamorous celebrities can be very enticing, especially to younger folks who look up to the likes of the Kardashians.
“People with eating disorders or prone to disordered eating also have the potential to be negatively affected.
“It worries me when influential people promote restrictive and extreme regimes without considering the wider implications.
“It’s possible to lose weight permanently and healthily, but crash dieting too restrictively is never a good idea.”
It comes after Riverdale star Lili Reinhart called Kim “toxic” and “stupid” for her comments.
Lili, 25, started out with a flurry of text-based posts on her Instagram Stories: “Walking down the red carpet and doing an interview where you say how hungry you are…because you haven’t eaten carbs in the past month.” ..to fit into a damn dress?”
She continued: “So wrong. So damn on so many levels.”
“To openly admit you’re starving yourself for the Met Gala.

“When you know full well that millions of young men and women look up to you and listen to your every word.
“Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies.”
