YOU may think that dreaming about going with your boss or someone high up at work means you want to be in their bedroom..
But there’s a good chance you actually want to join them in the meeting room.
Psychologist Ian Wallace, author of Decoding Your Dreams, says: “People are extremely excited and confused about sexual dreams.
“But really it’s a reflection of what you’re most excited about in life and how committed you are to challenging your energies for that passion.
“Dream is the ultimate self-portrait, aka selfie.”
This week, a third of us dreamed of our neighbor’s bed.
Ian tells Yasmin Harisha what it means to have erotic dreams about different people.
YOU ARE INSTALLING AN OLD MISTAKE: Just when you think they’ve left your life for good, will they crawl back – right in the middle of your dreams.
But before you make any hasty decisions to get back there, Ian says: “This is a very common dream and it doesn’t mean you should start texting them when you’re drunk or deciding. back to them.
“It tells you that you need to be more aware and let go of old behaviors that no longer serve you.
“Maybe you are realizing that you have the choice to do things the way you want and stand on your own two feet.
“If you’re in a relationship, that also warns you against repeating past relationship patterns with your current romantic partner.”
IT IS YOU SHOULD PRESIDENT THAT MIGHT: We were all there.
A strange, erotic dream about a manager at work that you really do NOT love. Or is it you?
According to Ian, you probably don’t.
“Bosses represent power and the ability to use that power,” he said.
“It turns out that you need to promote yourself in your waking life.
“Instead of always feeling that you need someone else’s permission to work on your passion, this tells you that you need to drive your needs and ambitions.”
So instead of wanting to be with your boss in the bedroom, you want to be with him or her in the boardroom and you’re telling yourself you need to push yourself to get there.
YOU HAVE THE TALENTS YOU NEED TO ICONS: Dreaming of having sex with your partner can never be a bad thing.
But what if you are experimenting more than you are in real life.
Does that mean something is wrong in your relationship? Fortunately, no.
“Having sex with your partner is about becoming really comfortable with your creative potential,” says Ian.
“If you have talent or skill and you know how to do something, you need to become a lot more comfortable doing it.
“It’s about understanding your sense of identity and your ability to be true to yourself, so that you can behave the way you want in waking life, by doing things the way that suits you best. .”
That could mean in the bedroom. Time to spice things up?
YOU NEED TO PUSH OUT OF YOUR RUT: You borrowed the quirky cork in a moment of desperation, and maybe he fed the cat while you were away.
But now your humble neighbor is invading your dreams. Why so?
“This is about becoming more aware of yourself and your personal growth,” says Ian.
“We all have big dreams and ambitions. It’s about realizing there are smaller ambitions that are easier to achieve – closer to home, so to speak.
“Are you feeling stuck in your 9-5 office job? Maybe this is a sign to change careers into something you’ve always wanted to do.
“If what you really want to do is become a skydiving instructor, what’s stopping you from taking small steps toward it?”
Your best friend
STOP TRUSTING OTHERS SO MUCH: Being intimate with your best friend in a dream – regardless of their gender – can feel weird.
But don’t panic.
“We create all the characters in our dreams, and we use those characters to symbolize specific qualities and traits,” says Ian.
“Let’s say your friend is really good at social situations and they manage to make everyone feel comfortable.
“That’s the quality you’re defining.
“Whatever quality you associate with them is a quality that you now have the opportunity to use to solve a particular problem in your own life.
“If they are funny, then you may need to use your sense of humor in waking life up.
“Instead of relying on your friend for that quality, you need to use that trait yourself.”
Your old classmate
WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOU? Sometimes the most unexpected people appear in intimate dreams, such as an old friend you haven’t seen in trick years.
Before you start dating them on Facebook, Ian says, it can take on an entirely different meaning.
“This is about getting to know a part of your ambition that you might have forgotten about,” he says. . . or you didn’t forget but it just lay still.
“It’s about awakening that latent quality, like sports or singing, that you associate with your schoolmate and that helps you rediscover that ambition.”
Similarly, Ian says that dreaming of an old teacher can mean that you have the ability to learn and develop a new skill – no matter what your age.
The person you hate
DON’T BE A PLEASE PERSON: You despise this person. But last night you were sneaking with them while you slept.
Instead of talking about people, this is all about your inner demon.
“This is an opportunity to connect with an aspect of your potential that you normally try to suppress,” says Ian. It’s about something in your life that you might be avoiding.
“Maybe it’s a situation you feel will make the other person unhappy and possibly reject you.”
What will the person you hate do? Do they share the same inner turmoil on the matter?
“What you need to do is love yourself, love what you’re doing and be able to ignite your passion, rather than just criticizing yourself,” Ian adds.
Opposite your ‘style’
CHANGE YOUR HOW TO GET WHAT YOU WANT: Most of us have one style and don’t give others a chance.
That is until it comes to our dreams where we can have wild sex with someone who looks completely different.
“Dreams reveal a huge part of who we are that we don’t really know,” says Ian.
“It makes you realize that in order to understand a certain situation in your life, you may need to do the opposite of what you normally do.
“What often keeps us from doing this is that other people judge us, but if you have the courage to do something against your character, you can get the results you want.”
Similarly, if you normally pursue one gender but then have a dream about sex with another, it means that you need to change the way you deal with the problem.
