I’m a security expert and this is how you can tell if your airport queue will be slow

THOUSANDS of Britons have been sitting in huge airport queues over the last few days, with many waiting times and even missing their flights.
But one security expert has explained how you can tell if your queue is getting slow – so you know to pick the other one.
They explained that you never want to see two security guards on one x-ray machine as it takes longer.
They said: “When there is more than one security office on an X-ray machine, there is often a chance that one of the employees is a trainee.
“So you might risk a line going a little slower.”
A travel expert also shared some tips on how to choose the right queue to get through airport security as quickly as possible.

Nora Dunn shared a two-pronged hack to help passengers sail through security and into duty-free.
She kept writing rate: “The magic of airport security is in the right setup.
“Look at the people in line and choose the line with the most business travelers.
Her second tip was to avoid any queues with families with young children, as unsurprisingly they are the slowest groups.
She wrote: “If you don’t see lines with business travelers, then at least avoid lines with families (especially families with young children) at all costs.
“They’re notoriously and understandably slow at sorting their stuff to get it through the X-ray machines.”
That’s what other travel experts say turn left at airport security could mean you can get through it faster.
They said that depending on our dominant hand, we unconsciously choose which side we line up on, and considering the majority of people are right-handed, the lines on the right will be more occupied than those on the left.
Families trying to get away for the Easter holidays have been queuing after days of troubles have thrown holidaymakers into chaos.
And long queues and delays could take months as a result of staff shortages in Covid and a slow return to recruitment.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said they are even debating calling in police and fire services to help tackle the chaos, telling the BBC: “I was in touch with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police over the weekend, to see what we can do to support the airport.”
Some airline industry figures have accused the government for the lack of staff, because the security check takes several weeks longer than usual.
