I’m a tech genius – iPhone trick brings back Apple’s popular BINNED feature

YOUR iPhone can give you a virtual home button – even if you don’t have a physical one anymore.

Apple scrapped the home button years ago, leaving some fans missing the popular feature.

Luckily, Apple has a feature called Assistive Touch.

This is an accessibility hack that gives you a simple home button replacement.

The trick was recently shared by TikTok gadget expert @tehno_mike, who regularly shares iPhone hacks.

His clip shows how to add a virtual home button to your iPhone.

The home button was first abandoned on the iPhone X in late 2017.

It was abandoned so Apple had room to stretch the screen from corner to corner – and add a Face ID scanner.

This meant Apple could fit more displays into a device with the same physical dimensions.

This meant many common iPhone gestures changed forever.

And Apple has stuck to that no-button design on many iPhone models since – although the home button makes an appearance on the iPhone SE range.

How to add a virtual home button on iPhone

The feature is called Assistive Touch and it comes standard with your iPhone.

“When you turn on AssistiveTouch, you see a button on the screen,” Apple explains.

“You can drag it to any edge of the screen, where it stays until you drag it again.

“By default, a single tap of the button opens the AssistiveTouch menu.

“One tap anywhere outside of the menu will close it.”

To enable it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch.

Now select Assistive Touch to turn it on.

You could also say “Hey Siri, turn on Assistive Touch” out loud.

This feature gives you quick access to many gestures and settings on iPhone.

And it’s customizable, so you can change how Assistive Touch works at any time.
