I’m an Aldi manager – here’s the product everyone’s obsessed with, we can’t keep it on the shelves

An Irish Aldi executive has revealed the popular product that shoppers are obsessing over, saying they “can’t keep it on the shelf”.

Cliona Wallace runs the retailer’s Glanmire, Cork branch – and said the protein Chocolate Mousse is flying off the shelves.

She said: “We just can’t keep it on the shelf!

“I’ve tried it myself and I can see why it’s so popular!

“Every year around this time we see a huge demand for high protein and healthy products as people start their new year
resolutions.

“If you can’t find the Protein Chocolate Mousse on the shelves, I encourage you to look out for other products in our protein range, including Chocolate Protein Wheat Bisks and our range of Protein Puddings.”

And Cliona, who has worked in four Aldi stores for over 11 years, told how people are spending more on sweets and ‘fake-aways’ as the cost of living crisis hits households.

She added: “It’s definitely a tough time for shoppers but I see people are reacting and adapting pretty well.

“An interesting trend I’ve noticed recently is that buyers
actually seem to be spending more on in-store treats than in the past.

“Well that might just be part of the holiday enjoyment we’re all guilty of, but I think it’s something else too.

“Many of the clients I’ve spoken to have started to cut back on the money they spend outside the home on things like movies and food, opting instead for ‘fake-aways’ and couch-couch movie nights.”

Cliona said customers should look out for their Aldi Savers deals – with 40 per cent off certain items.

She added: “If customers are struggling with their store I would recommend keeping an eye out for our bi-weekly Aldi Savers deal where customers can get over 40 per cent off a range of everyday essentials.

“We also run weekly Super 6 deals that give customers discounts on fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and everyday items.

“Customers can keep up to date with the products on sale by keeping an eye on our in-store brochures.”

Aldi is currently recruiting staff for a number of its stores across Ireland – and Cliona has said it’s a “great place” to work.

She said: “Not only is Aldi a great place to work with tons of learning and development opportunities, but the pay is great too.

“Store assistants currently earn a market-leading living wage of €13.85, while store managers can earn up to €60,550
€88,250.

“Aldi is currently hiring across the country for a variety of positions including Store Assistant and Store Manager.”

GUINNESS HIKE

Meanwhile, Irish punters will have to shell out an extra 40p a pint of Guinness when prices go up NEXT WEEK.

Brewers Diageo announced the shock price increase earlier this month.

The makers of Ireland’s favorite drink have announced they are raising their bar prices by 12 cents a pint.

The price increase for a pint of the black stuff will come next week, February 1, before VAT is added, meaning pub owners may have to raise prices by 40 cents a pint.

Diageo is also selling Smithwicks and Hop House 13.

Announcing the increase earlier this month, a Diageo spokesman told The Irish Sun that they are raising their prices because of rising production costs.
