I’m an iPhone expert – a clever hack will instantly boost your phone signal

A TIKTOK tech guru has shared a handy way to boost your signal when you’re having trouble sending texts or making calls.
In a video on Monday, user @scottpoldermann suggested fans turn Airplane Mode on and off to improve their connection.
The influencer has made a name for himself by sharing useful iPhone tips and tricks with his 1.4 million followers.
And his latest is a workaround for those moments when your phone isn’t connected to the best possible cell tower.
Inside your smartphone is a modem that allows it to connect to nearby towers.
Through these towers, your cellular network (like EE or Verizon) connects your phone to others.

As you move around or enter and exit buildings, your modem will switch towers to give you the best possible signal.
However, this method is not entirely foolproof.
Constantly scanning for new towers to find the best connection uses a lot of power, so your phone isn’t constantly looking for new networks to hop onto.
Instead, it periodically checks to see if a better connection is available.
However, you can easily force your iPhone to search for a new signal.
All you have to do is turn on airplane mode for a few seconds and then turn it off again.
Airplane mode turns off all outgoing connections, effectively resetting your phone’s modem.
This will force the iPhone to immediately search for the best possible connection.
This is an especially handy trick if instead of 4G or 5G signals you’re getting a poor 3G signal that gives you snappy internet speeds.
It’s also very useful when you’re traveling fast – like on a train or in a car.
You may be moving through network towers very quickly during a trip, so resetting your connection can give you a quick signal boost — rather than having to cling to a distant tower.
How to turn on Airplane mode for iPhone and iPad
First you need to open the control center by swiping down from the top right corner of your iPhone display.
On iPhones older than the iPhone X, just swipe up from the bottom of any screen on an iPhone.
And on an iPad, you can just double-click the home button.
Next, look for the airplane icon in the top left of your control center.
Tap on it and wait a few seconds. Then tap it again to turn it off.

You should see your phone lose signal completely and then quickly regain it.
And you should now be connected to the best possible network available.
