I’m an iPhone Expert – Three Mind-Blowing Tricks Everyone Should Know

A GADGET expert has shared three really clever iPhone hacks – including some real Harry Potter spells.
Your iPhone is packed with features, and many of them are hidden.

But you’ll make much better use of your posh iPhone if you learn some additional tricks.
This latest batch was shared by gadget expert Niels van Straaten, who regularly shares iPhone hacks on TikTok as @applesign.
Harry Potter iPhone Spells
Your iPhone borrows a set of Siri commands from the Harry Potter universe.

And one of them turns on the iPhone flashlight.
Fans will remember the Lumos spell – used in the Harry Potter universe to light up the end of a witch’s or wand’s wand.
It allows characters to see in the dark and was used by Potter himself in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
You can take the magic back to the Muggle world yourself by activating Siri on an iPhone and saying “Lumos” to turn on your device’s flashlight.
Lumos isn’t the only magic that works on the iPhone.
If you activate Siri and say “Nox”, the wand erase spell, the torch will turn off.
Avoid text spam
If you are a regular iPhone user, you will probably find that your Messages app is slightly congested.
It often fills up with spam texts or verification code messages.
These texts can sometimes make it difficult to find important conversations.
Luckily, there’s an Apple feature that lets you filter out texts from unknown senders.
It doesn’t block them (so you still get them), but it does make your iPhone inbox a lot tidier.
First, make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest software.
Go to Settings > General > Software update to check.
Then open Settings again and then select Messages.
Scroll down and enable Filter unknown senders under Message filtering.
So how do you activate the filters?
Go to the Messages app and select Filters in the top left corner.
Then you will see your messages are split.
You have filters for all messages, known senders and unknown senders.
So if you want the tidiest inbox, it’s probably best to leave messages filtered by known senders.
Ringtone and alarm volume
Is your iPhone alarm clock always too loud? There is a way to fix it.
If you’ve ever tried to reduce the alarm sound using the volume down button, you’ve come across a big problem.
When you do that, it actually just turns off the alarm.
So shortly after (and every day) you’re woken up by the same overly loud alarm sound.
But there is an easy way to fix the problem.
First go to Settings > Sound & Haptics.
Then look for a slider under Ring and notifications.
You can drag this slider left or right to adjust the volume.
As you drag the slider, an alarm will sound so you can hear it change.
However, you can also enable “Change With Buttons” in the same menu.
In this way, you can finally use your volume buttons on iPhone to change the alarm volume.

This means, of course, that the volume no longer snoozes the alarm.
However, you can temporarily silence an iPhone alarm by tapping the big snooze button that still appears on your home screen.
