IF you’re going on vacation abroad soon, there’s an iPhone voice hack you should know about.
Your iPhone can instantly translate any foreign language character.
It’s a lifesaver when trying to navigate a country whose language you don’t speak.
Perhaps you want to scan the menu of a French restaurant, a notice in a German museum, or the ingredients of a cocktail in Spain.
Whatever you’re doing, there’s an easy way to translate things in front of you with one iPhone.
And Apple fans rave about it – their post has received over a thousand likes.
How does it work?
How to translate characters with iPhone
First open your iPhone camera and take a picture of a foreign language sign.
Then navigate to the image in your Photos app.
Now hold your finger and drag your finger across the text.
Use this to Highlight the text just like in a document.
Now tap Translate in the pop-up menu that appears above the text.
The text will be automatically translated into English (or another language of your choice).
You can copy the translation or change the language from the settings.
And you can even make the iPhone speak the English translation out loud.
You can also use this text highlighting trick to more generally copy and paste words from images.
And you can easily copy and paste content by pinching or spreading three fingers.
