IF YOUR iPhone battery is draining far too quickly, this handy trick might help.
It is possible to trigger a self-destruct command for tabs in the Safari iOS app, which will improve your device’s performance.
TikToker @ambre_skye showed off the neat hack in a video posted earlier this year.
When enabled, the setting means users don’t have to manually close tabs from within the app.
As a result, your browser is less likely to suffer from a build-up of unused tabs, which can slow down your device and impact your battery life.
To set your Safari tabs to close automatically, open your iPhone Settings app. Scroll down and tap safari.
Scroll down again and tap close tabs. Choose whether to close tabs afterwards from the menu Someday, one week or a month.
Ambre_skye, one of TikTok’s most popular tech tipsters, recommends closing Safari tabs after a week for maximum speed and efficiency.
Lots of open tabs in your browser can slow down your phone as each one uses up your system’s short-term data storage.
Known as Random Access Memory (RAM), your phone stores everything that runs on it, such as apps, browsers, the operating system, and more.
If your RAM is clogged with numerous applications or tabs being used at the same time, you may find that your smartphone’s performance suffers.
You may notice apps running slower or start lagging while your phone gets hot to the touch and the battery drains in a flash.
If your iPhone’s performance is giving you trouble, try closing the apps you’re not using to free up storage space.
To do this on an iPhone X and later, go to the home screen and swipe up from the bottom edge of the display, pausing in the middle.
Swipe right or left to find the app you want to close and swipe up on the preview to close the app.
On iPhone SE, iPhone 8, and earlier, double-click the Home button to see your recent apps and swipe up to the apps you want to close.
