An Irish interior designer revealed the simple steps on how to transform your bedroom.

Posting at @geridesigns, Geri O’Toole took to TikTok to reveal how to bring that hotel feel into your own bedroom.

She said: “This is exactly the way to create a chic, hotel-style bedroom in your own home.

“This is based on my 15 years of experience as an interior designer.”

The interior designer said paying attention to textures is important.

Geri said, “First, make sure your wall coverings are really cozy.

“Think of textured wallpaper or a paneled wall that integrates your headboard.”

Lighting can instantly set the mood.

She said: “Next is the lighting. Lighting is key to creating a hotel chic feel in your bedroom.

“Think of small reading lights built into the headboard.

“Think of a desk with a nice little reading lamp on it.”

The designer explained how to play with light in rooms.

She said: “Also think about soft mood lighting. Maybe it’s hidden in the ceiling to create a soft mood at night.”

The planning of the room layout is important and is usually “overlooked”.

Geri said: “The last one is good built-in furniture. It’s often overlooked, but really well thought out furniture in the room makes all the difference.

“So a desk that looks really proportional to the room it’s in.

“Really good sized headboard and bedside tables.”

The Limerick-based woman explained that planning can create that “chic feeling”.

Geri added: “Maybe incorporate all of these bedside tables built like this as one piece into your headboard.

“Plan your furniture really carefully for a really chic feel.”
