I’m angry after cyclists blocked my running route by parking their cars on the sidewalk… to ride bikes

A RUNNER is furious after cyclists blocked his running course by parking their cars on a sidewalk.

Mark Atkinson posted a photo on his Twitter account @montythemol the car line.

The picture shows dozens of cars with bike racks parked on the sidewalk and people unloading their bikes.

Apparently Mark couldn’t walk on the sidewalk as it was completely blocked by the motors.

Mark wrote on Twitter: “Cannot walk on the footpath as it is blocked for a half mile by #cyclists parked for a Sunday bike ride.

“If only there were a way to get there by bike.”

In another tweet, he responded to people who said they might not all be cyclists, saying: “To be clear – I was too busy running into traffic to photograph every car and luggage rack.

“As others have said, it’s a very popular bike spot.

“If the majority played bingo, it would be fair to say bingo fans would block the sidewalk.”

The tweet had more than 900,000 views and 1,148 likes.

One said: “The way they parked is clearly illegal and wrong.

“But I’ll just post this. What is the solution? And I mean a real workable solution.”

Another user said: “This is a nightmare!

“Does that white line indicate that such parking is legal?

“Even if it does, that is exceedingly selfish behavior!”

A third pointed out: “They are just ill-considered people.

“We don’t have to categorize them. Thoughtful people come in all shapes and sizes.

Other users said that the car owners are not cyclists.

One said: “They sure look a lot like cars to me… I don’t see a single bike blocking the sidewalk.”

Another said: “They look like cars to me. ‘Drivers’ parked there.”
