“I’m exhausted from worrying about money all the time – I wish I had a rich husband”

A “tired” mum took to the internet to open up about financial struggles and how she wishes life were easier, something many will find understandable at this point – but her comments sparked debate

The mother is “exhausted” with her money worries.

A fed-up mom has vented her frustration at how sick she is of fretting about money all the time — something many will likely find understandable.

She explained that she often had conversations with her family about cutbacks, but wished she could have more fun.

The anonymous woman branded her post “anti-feminist” as she openly admitted she wanted a rich husband as it would make her life easier.

writing in a post on Mumsnet, she said: “I shouldn’t admit it… but I wish I had a rich husband!

“I’m exhausted because I have to worry about money 24/7. I feel like I don’t have time. I wonder if it will ever get better and how!

“I just want to be like my friends and family who don’t have money to worry about, have multiple vacations to look forward to, provide their children with great education and activities, and are planning home renovations because their husbands have become very successful. What a dream to live like this even for just a year would be bliss.

“I know how anti-feminist that is, I know it’s up to me to be my own rich husband, but it’s hard when you have other responsibilities.

“I just want to dream a little bit of a life where we have conversations about which country to visit, not how to save even more.”

Some Mumsnet users understood where the woman came from and sympathized with her point of view.

One person said: “I don’t think you’re unusual in that! My husband earns enough and I am very happy about it. I wouldn’t date someone just for the money, but all else being equal, I’d choose rich over poor any day of the week.”

Another wrote: “Me too – and my other half wishes he had a rich wife too.”

“I wish my husband made more money. Life would be a lot easier,” agreed a third.

Someone else replied: “I’m sure a lot of women feel that way! Don’t feel bad!”

However, others saw it very differently, and some didn’t understand why anyone should rely on another person for financial help.

Another user wrote: “I’m a single mom on minimum wage and I never wish I had a rich husband. I would NEVER, EVER, want to rely on a man for money in any situation. I don’t want anyway husband probably helps!”

While a sixth explained: “I don’t want a rich husband, but I do want to be rich myself. Men are not our saviors.”

The woman’s contribution clearly led to a good debate. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
