A ‘reinvented’ Anthony Joshua said he knows well Oleksandr Usyk’s tricks and what he needs to do to defeat the Ukrainian when they meet in Jeddah on August 20.
Usyk defeated Joshua to a packed house at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September to claim the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts.
The 32-year-old Briton – who now has a new trainer in former American super featherweight champion Robert Garcia – said he learned a lot from his first meeting with Usyk.
“I know what he’s going to do, I know what I have to do,” Joshua told the BBC. “I’ve been in there before, I know his tricks. I need to change the narrative. I am the author of my own film.
“I went to the United States and worked with some new coaches. I just wanted to remodel something. I’ll be 33 in a few months. I want to try something new, I want to brush up, reinvent myself – let me put in some new trainers.
“I just have to go in and do my job, no excuses. I’m a winner, I think I’m known as a winner. We came into the game and have only won since. There really isn’t anything else to know about me.”
Joshua previously lost the belts to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019 before regaining them later that year.
