I’m trying to be optimistic

The daughter of missing woman Bernadette Connolly said she was trying to be “optimistic” about finding her mother – saying: “Not knowing would be the worst.”
It’s been four weeks since Bernadette was last seen on Donabate Beach, Dublin on Friday 7 January.
Gardai is investigating the disappearance of the 45-year-old man who was released CCTV footage in a new appeal for information last week.
The mother of one child, from Swords, was last seen as she was taken by a taxi down to the Shoreline hotel parking lot, and headed towards the beach entrance.
Her daughter Jade urged those living in any nearby beach areas – including Skerries, Rush and Malahide – to keep an eye out for clues.
It comes after new CCTV footage from a Malahide’s house showed her on the beach at 12:46 pm, eight minutes after she allegedly took a landscape photo with her cell phone.
Her coat and bag were found near the end of Malahide Beach. She was wearing a black Nike workout shirt, black Nike leggings, black trainers with white soles, and a black beanie when she went missing.

“For all I know, she may have gone with a friend – that this friend knew that all this was going on and that she was missing.
“Was it a tragic accident, the waves were so strong that she pulled her in while she was rowing? There’s too much to think about. All I know is I need to get on with this.”
