Pictures show the extent of the damage caused by an inferno that destroyed a former nursing home.
Fire crews from West Sussex, East Sussex and Surrey have been called to the fire, which broke out on Bolnore Farm Lane near Haywards Heath last night, along with police and ambulance teams.
Flames could be seen leaping into the sky, with the embers of the fire being carried by high winds that swept the county overnight.
Part of the building’s roof was filmed collapsing as the fire engulfed the structure, with ten fire engines called to the scene along with an aerial platform to fight the blaze.
Images from above the burning structure show much of the former nursing home completely destroyed by the inferno.
Firefighters from Haywards Heath Fire Station described the blaze as a “challenging incident” and crews are continuing on-site operations.
The B2272 has reopened after being closed for several hours while emergency services responded to the incident and firefighters were still at the scene.
It is not believed that anyone was in the building when the fire broke out around 7pm last night.
