The sixth and final Netflix series The Crown is currently filming, with Imedla Staunton giving a warm end to her scenes as Queen Elizabeth II during a 1994 visit to Moscow.
Imelda Staunton beamed as she wrapped a warm fur coat over the shoulders of Queen Elizabeth II – during a state visit to Russia in 1994.
Actress Imelda is filming the sixth and final series of Netflix hit The Crown, in which she follows Claire Foy and Olivia Colman to play the British monarch.
In this scene, she wears the distinctive yellow suit and fur coat that the Queen wore in October 1994, when she inspected an honor guard of Russian service personnel at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport.
But the actress, 65, has swapped out the Queen’s dapper shoes for some rather sturdier boots.
The special royal visit comes at the start of a four-day tour of Russia, during which the Queen is accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, who passed away last year.
In the TV version of the show, the Duke of Edinburgh will be played by Pirates of the Caribbean star Jonathan Pryce. In these scenes, the couple was driven through the city in a royal limousine and other women were used to line the streets to cheer as they passed.
Staunton, 65, has said she “will do her best to maintain the very high standards” set by her predecessors on the TV show, but admitted at the start of filming that her belly is “tumbling”.
Viewers will get their first look at her action when season five of The Crown begins in November.
The upcoming fifth installment will deal with the early 1990s and the dramatic events that befell the House of Windsor.
The fourth season ended in 1990 with Margaret Thatcher being removed from the Prime Minister’s office.
If the show continues the previous seasons, we can expect events to come to an end at the end of John Major’s tenure as UK Prime Minister and the end of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage in 1996. .
However, with Elizabeth Debicki confirmed to appear in season 6, Diana’s death in 1997 will not be portrayed in this upcoming installment.
The upcoming season of The Crown will likely focus heavily on the deteriorating marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The episodes will deal with the Queen’s self-described ‘Annus Horribilis’ in 1992, which saw a fire that severely damaged Windsor Castle and three of the Queen’s children. facing the end of their marriage.
