The release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet was an exciting day for many Poke fans around the world. Despite some shortcomings, the games have been widely praised and hailed for taking a huge step in the right direction for what fans want in Pokémon games of the future.
In fact, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet was such a hit that total retail sales have already surpassed previous Pokemon Sword & Shield games.
That’s huge considering Sword & Shield has been around for three years and Scarlet & Violet are only eight weeks into their lifespan. The Game Data Library pointed out in the chart above that the franchise’s latest games hit over 4.5 million sales; If you include digital sales, that total tops 6 million and is probably closer to 7 million.
Further down in the Game Data Library comments is a chart that compares Scarlet & Violet’s sales to some of the fastest selling games in Japan. After eight weeks, Scarlet & Violet has surpassed Pokemon Black & White, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Pokemon Gold & Silver.
