In photos: 15 moments captured by independent Irish photographer Mark Condren at the Ukraine border

Irish photographer Mark Condren traveled to the Ukrainian border with journalist Fionnan Sheahan, and he captured striking images of the plight of people across the border.

Condren chronicled the struggles of Ukrainians trying to flee the war-torn country to safety and the devastation left behind.

He highlighted the reality for many refugees on Poland’s border with Ukraine as they take shelter at the Medyka sports stadium, which provides beds for 350 refugees each night.

His images raised awareness of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the reality of the current situation on the ground.

Condren’s work has taken him around the world and he has previously reported on famines in Ethiopia and South Sudan, the aftermath of earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, as well as war zones in Syria and the Gaza Strip. and Western Sahara.
