Shane Lynch may be known for his singing career but in recent years he has ventured into the hospitality industry after opening a bar in his new home in Cheshire last year.

The 45-year-old performer and his wife Sheena Lynch, 42, opened their own Irish bar called D13 in the market town of Knutsford almost a year ago – opening it amid the Covid pandemic.

The company – named after the Dublin postcode where Shane grew up – celebrated its first St Patrick’s Day last week and the occasion was celebrated in style!

His family and friends toasted the celebration at the outdoor Guinness Garden, and a special spray-painted wooden wall was erected on the grounds for customers to mark.

The “boutique bar” — owned by the couple and their boyfriend Nathan Gerhold — centers around a 300-year-old building in the market town, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

They have redesigned the interiors of the building, which extends over three levels, to take guests on a journey from “traditional to modern Ireland” on their visit.

The bar has a capacity of approximately 240 people and guests enter the main bar area with traditional wood and glass lighting before entering the grounds.

You can get to a seating area in a red booth by walking across a marble effect floor, where there is also a multi-level outdoor area for customers on the property.

Shane – best known as a member of Boyzone – said: “The whole idea was to go from ancient Ireland to modern Ireland. […] I don’t have to be homesick anymore.”

Guests can also visit the company’s expansive garden, which has been painted all black like a pint of Guinness. There is also entertainment at the popular bar.

D13 welcomes a mix of live music and DJs, with Shane saying they pride themselves on being an “open house” for musicians looking to showcase their talents.

The team behind the operation is particularly proud to have received a certificate for their dry stout. Nathan said: “Guinness came by to make sure our Guinness was perfect and we got a 10/10 rating which we couldn’t ask for better.”

Shane and Sheena – who are cast members on Real Housewives of Cheshire – had long dreamed of opening their own Irish bar with their longtime friend Nathan.

It became a reality when Nathan moved to the county, by which time the couple – who have two children together – had already moved to Cheshire.

Shane said they were “really looked after” by the Knutsford community, adding that “everyone made it through [them] feel so welcome” in Cheshire.

And when asked about expanding the business, Shane suggested that, for now at least, they’d be content to keep business “comfortable” and stick to just one location.

He said: “D13 is a boutique Irish bar and there are some big establishments in Manchester that I don’t think we can really compete with. So we’re happy to stay here, we can keep it cozy.”
