In the end of Westworld season 4, whatever will happen, will be like

The finale begins exactly where the previous week ended, with cities descending into chaos as humans descend into fury over Hale’s parasites being activated. One of the hosts from season 1 is running around killing humans and trying to figure out why they’re killing people, but he looks like he’s having a pretty good time. He meets another host and begins to brag about how many “bags of meat” he has killed when one of them slashes him in the back of the head with an ax. There’s a sniper in the window that takes the host and human out with abandon, but then William shows up and kills him.

There might be some commentary here about people yearning for post-apocalyptic anarchy, about doomsday hunters, people watching “The Walking Dead” with a lust in their eyes, but it’s quickly lost when William calls the sniper “f*** in camper”, using gamer language despite being a man in his 70s. That’s funny but also stops any deep thinking in their song, which seems counter-intuitive for a show that involves big ideas.

It turns out that Hale hasn’t died yet, and her fearsome white cyborg guardians have revived her and rebuilt her to be even stronger than before. She wants to save her face so “they know it was I who killed them” as she hunts down the host and the humans go wild, but she’s clearly no longer in control. She discovers that she is locked out of the tower’s controls and finds Bernard’s last message to her. “What happens next?” he asks.

We move on to Christina and Teddy, who are real but not real. Apparently, she’s a show, and the “world” around her is a simulation she builds for herself as she’s writing the story of all the people in the world controlled by Hale. . She does not exist beside them but in a perfect copy of their world, and she realizes that she has created everyone inside her city. Outside, Hale began to stomp on the map unit and Christina’s world began to fade away. The city shuts down and Hale opens the floor door, removing a host brain sphere from within. That is Christina, and Hale pack her in their backpacks and head out to the city where William is having his murderous hobby.
