In the strange world of Elon Musk, who claims he’s an alien and believes we live in a video game

MEGA RICH Elon Musk likes to think outside the box – and the richest person in the world thinks his on-off girlfriend is a pipe dream.

How the 51-year-old South African-born spacecraft and electric car tycoon plays Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes, 31, is revealed on new BBC2 documentary The Elon Musk Show.

The three-part Wednesday night series, which kicked off this week, explores the inside story of Musk – who also holds US and Canadian citizenship – through chats with family, friends and foes.

His thoughts on his girlfriend are shared by Vanity Fair journalist Devin Gordon, who says Grimes told him how Musk has a theory that she’s a simulation he created to be the perfect companion.

Whilst this may sound more out there than his beloved outer space, it’s not the first time Musk – who is said to be worth nearly £200bn – has strayed into the realm of the surreal.

The head of Tesla car and rocket company SpaceX, whose on-off bid to buy Twitter is now active again, has said humans are a video game simulation of an advanced civilization and that he himself is an alien, and has Vladimir Putin challenged to a one-on-one battle.

His claims about life on earth came at a 2016 computer coding conference in California, where he said the virtual world has become “indistinguishable from reality.”

Musk – who lives in a modest £45,000 three-bed house a short walk from the SpaceX factory in Texas – added: “Suppose we’re on the way to having games that aren’t made by are indistinguishable from reality – and these could be played on any set – top box, PC or whatever, and there would probably be billions of them – it seems to follow that the odds that we are in base reality are one to one are billions.”

Despite claiming that the human race doesn’t really exist, he urges them to breed more.

Musk, who has 10 children by three women, has warned that unless birth rates rise, “civilization will collapse.”

He fends off those concerned about the impact on climate and inequality, insisting: “I can’t stress enough, there aren’t enough people.”

But Musk – who has married three times, including twice to English actress Talulah Riley, 37 – may have made it difficult for his own children by giving them seriously weird names.

His two with Grimes are named X Æ A-XII and Exa Dark Sideræl. Uh, a boy and a girl.

In the meantime, when life on Earth is collapsing, he has a plan – colonize Mars and build everything from “iron foundries to pizzerias”.

But he warned in 2016: “The first trip to Mars will be very dangerous. The risk of death will be high.”

He added: “Mars will not be luxurious, especially in the beginning. The selling point for it is, “It’s dangerous, it’s tight. You might not make it back’.”

However, he suggested that it could be warmed up simply by dropping “thermonuclear weapons over the poles.”

In any case, Mars could be a good match for Musk. When asked by Rogan where he got all his ideas from, he said in 2018 on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, “I’m an alien.”

He has also recently become involved in Putin’s war in Ukraine. He donated satellite internet to Ukraine through Space X.

He also tweeted: “I challenge Vladimir Putin to a duel. Missions are Ukraine.”

He had planned to stop satellite aid, but yesterday he turned around. Still, he has urged Ukraine to seek peace by giving up territories and pledging to remain “neutral.”
